- D.W. COLLECTION. Struck during the height of the Civil War, the 1863 silver proof coins had a small mintage of only 460 pieces. This exceptionally eye appealing GEM has bold contrast between the sharply struck devices. The eye appeal is superb with a classic, lovely toning pattern. PCGS 9, NGC 11, CAC 8. The last PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction brought $2,013 in the 2012 FUN auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $2,100. This eye appealing GEM will entice strong bidding from collectors. With such a low mintage, these just seem too cheap at current levels. Cert. Number 15422994 PCGS # 84756
