A wonderfully contrasted, wonderfully CHOICE example of this important Civil War date Proof Seated dollar. The final year the No Motto type was struck, and only 500 were produced. Flashy watery, untoned surfaces are brilliantly reflective in the fields and frosted on the devices. Sharply struck, the devices show crisply formed details from a precision blow from the dies. The eye appeal is unmarred by any lines, toning, or any kind of flaws that would distract the collector. Only 500 Proofs were struck. PCGS 22, NGC 16. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $4,560 in August 2021. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $6,500.
