Lot Description
1803 Draped Bust Cent. S-258. Rarity-1. Small Date, Large Fraction. AU-55 (NGC). Deep golden-tan with no detracting marks that immediately assail the viewer's eye. The surfaces are close to glossy and hard, especially the reverse, though the obverse exhibits trace granularity in a few small areas, particularly at Liberty's shoulder. From a readily recognizable obverse die with an arcing die crack that runs from the rim at 9 o'clock downward to the central curl of Liberty's lowest tresses. Doubled T in LIBERTY, blunt 1 in date. All told, a largely pleasing coin that should attract lively bidding activity. Provenance: From our January 2012 Americana Sale, lot 8065, where graded MS-62 BN (ANACS) OH, and that slab label is included. PCGS# 1482. NGC ID: 224G. Click here for certification details from NGC.
