This SUPERB GEM is the SOLE FINEST non-Cameo Proof 1881 quarter graded by PCGS. One casual glance at it and you know that not only is this coin very high grade, but its seductive eye appeal is also so special that even the most jaded specialist will fall in love. The richness of the toning is the first trait that draws your attention in, the blue, teal, amber, and gold obverse tone arrests your eye. Underneath the spectacular color are beaming, flashy, watery, quicksilver like mirrors that accent the razor sharp definition of the devices. The eye appeal is not just exceptional, it is awe inspiring. PCGS 9, NGC 15, CAC 5. Go ahead and toss out any APR info, this coin has never sold in auction. The last PR67 approved by CAC sold in October 2010--over eight years ago! This is the Gardner duplicate, sold in October 2015 for $8,225 as an NGC PR68. The current PCGS value in 67+ is $7,000, but it would not be a shock if this coin realized close to the October 2015 realization again.
