Description du lot
What a wonderful GEM example of this ELITE 30 VAM variety. This is an important coin, struck from the same pair of dies as the extremely RARE Satin Proof 1921 Peace dollars. Swirling die polish lines, mostly around OF on the reverse (and some near WE on the obverse). PCGS has graded a total of 63 of this variety in all grades from AU50 to MS66. A very lustrous, satiny surface has a somewhat glossy brilliance. Sharply struck devices stand out boldly. Really the only thing in the fields other than the die polishing lines are some areas of iridescent white tone on the reverse. The eye appeal is sensational. PCGS 3, NGC 0, CAC 251 (all varieties). No PCGS MS65 example of this variety has ever sold in auction (per PCGS CoinFacts), but a non-CAC MS64 sold in August 2018 for $840 and a non-CAC PCGS MS66 sold in the 2019 FUN auction for $19,200. The PCGS Price Guide value of $5,000 seems like a reasonable value for this GEM, but only the final two bidders will determine what it is truly worth. Bound for a really neat collection of Peace dollars, which have been hot as of late. Good luck. Cert. Number 43179993 PCGS # 7356
