Lot Description
1870-CC Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. EF-40 (NGC). Deep slate-gray with lighter steel-gray highlights. Numerous hairlines and tiny marks are immediately apparent under low magnification. One of 11,758 examples struck during the first year of Carson City Mint coinage operations and representing the high-water mark for silver dollar production at that facility within the design type. This year's production figure is nearly double that of the combined mintages of the 1871-CC, 1872-CC, and 1873-CC that follow, that combined total just 6,826 pieces. A popular rarity in any grade. PCGS# 6964. Provenance: From the Ernest E. Keusch Collection.
