Lot Description
1850-O Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. OC-1. AU-53 (PCGS). A bold to sharp AU definition with substantial luster showing through the golden-apricot patina. A pair of light marks above the eagle's head are the only notable abrasions throughout. Handily outdistancing the 1846-O, 1859-O and 1860-O, the 1850-O is the rarest of the four New Orleans Mint entries in the Liberty Seated silver dollar series. Only 40,000 examples were originally produced and, while even well worn survivors are scarce, the 1850-O is particularly difficult to obtain in AU and Mint State. Bid accordingly as the present example is likely to disappear quickly into a tightly held collection specializing in this challenging 19th century silver dollar series. PCGS Population: 13; 37 finer. PCGS# 6938. NGC ID: 24YN. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
