Lot Description
1915-S Barber Quarter. MS-66 (NGC). With the sixth lowest mintage in the series (just 704,000 pieces), the 1915-S is certainly among the scarcer Barber quarters in Mint State. Even so, lower end Uncs through MS-64 are surprisingly obtainable, if only with patience. Beginning in MS-65, and especially MS-66, the conditionally challenging nature of this issue really comes to the fore. With nary a distracting abrasion to lustrous, satiny surfaces, this low pop MS-66 numbers among the finest certified. It is also a sharply struck coin that exhibits subtle powder-blue peripheral highlights to otherwise dominant rose-apricot patina. The central reverse is brilliant.
