1848 Liberty Eagle. MS-63 (NGC). Much scarcer in circulated grades than even a limited mintage of 145,484 pieces might imply, the 1848 Eagle is a major condition rarity in Mint State. Solidly Choice in quality, the coin we feature in this lot is high in the Condition Census. The quality of strike is typical for a Liberty Ten from the late 1840s, the obverse periphery and the central highpoints on both sides a bit lightly impressed. The luster quality is exceptional, however, both sides aglow with a satiny orange-gold sheen. Minimally abraded with nary a detracting blemish in evidence. An important piece!
