Lot Description

A beautiful, virtually untoned premium Gem with hints of powder blue and champagne-gold evident as the surfaces dip into a light. Strike detail is impressively full for the type, and the softly frosted surfaces are remarkably smooth and well composed. The first and last Liberty Head nickel to be produced at the San Francisco Mint, and with a limited mintage of 238,000, the 1912-S is considered a key to the series.
