1806/5 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-103, T-8. Rarity-2. AU-53 (NGC). Iridescent powder-blue peripheral highlights enliven otherwise dominant champagne-pink patina on both sides of this lustrous and impressively smooth-looking AU example. Half dollar coinage continued to ratchet up in 1806 after President Thomas Jefferson's suspension of silver dollar coinage in 1804. The Overton-103 pairing is one of the more frequently encountered of the 1806-dated issue, and this uncommonly high grade survivor would make a lovely addition to a type set. Tompkins Die Stage 2/2.
