Lot Description
1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-105a, T-4. Rarity-4. VF-20 (NGC). A narrow band of bronze and sapphire iridescence paints the obverse border of this flashy specimen. The protected regions display considerable mint luster, with a particularly frosty complexion apparent on the reverse. Trivial scattered marks visible under magnification through the aesthetic remains well composed to the naked eye. The dies are heavily fatigued, showing cracks, chips, and clashmarks equivalent to Tompkins Die Stage 4/5. Softly struck at center though otherwise well pronounced. Provenance: From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties. Acquired privately from Jim O'Donnell, December 1985. NGC Census: 4; 5 finer through AU-58 (O-105a variety only) PCGS# 6079. NGC ID: 24EM. Click here for certification details from NGC.
