Lot Description
1796 Draped Bust Dime. JR-4. Rarity-4. Fine-12 (PCGS). CAC. OGH--First Generation. This handsome and fully original example is dressed in rich charcoal and dove gray patina. There is no denticulation along the lower right obverse border, little along the lower reverse border, but otherwise we note bold denticulation around both sides. All major design elements are well outlined and fully appreciable, the surfaces pleasingly smooth in hand for a well circulated early dime. Ideal for type, date or variety purposes. The old style PCGS insert incorrectly attributes this coin as a 1796 half dime. Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection. PCGS# 4461. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
