- Lot Description
- Universally bold detail with deep toning in copper-gray and steely-olive. A tiny flan flaw at the obverse border just before 12 o'clock is as made. Vying with BB-105 as the most frequently encountered die marriage of the 1798 dollar, BB-125 is a popular variety to represent the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle design in a type set. With most survivors grading VG to VF, however, this variety is scarce in EF. BB Die State I-II, intermediate die state, with the initial die cracks described by Bolender, but all peripheral features on both sides sharply struck.
