Lot Description

1859-S Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 1-A, the only known dies. EF-40 (NGC). This is an important condition rarity that is rarely found in high grades. Of the original mintage of 80,000 pieces probably not more than 150 to 200 survive today. Examination finds average surfaces with minor nicks and scuffs from circulation, but these are to be expected. Toned with an even patina of golden-gray with smooth wear on the uppermost devices. This is a rarity that any specialist would be proud to own as finding a finer example may take years and years.
