Pretty champagne-apricot toning adorns the surfaces of this smooth, virtually pristine Superb Gem. Fully struck and satiny, the devices contrast beautifully with an icy reflectivity in the fields. While not a major rarity in an absolute sense the 1874, like all other Proof nickel three-cent issues, is highly elusive with the combination of technical quality and eye appeal offered here. This example is among the very finest certified of 700 or so struck, and will please even the most discerning numismatist.
