1803 Draped Bust Cent. S-247. Rarity-3. Small Date, Small Fraction. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. The popular Mumps Obverse variety, represented here by a handsome steel and olive-brown example with plenty of gloss on both sides. There are no significant marks or other blemishes to report, and the surfaces are pleasingly smooth. For provenance purposes we offer a small, shallow planchet void in the obverse field immediately above the hair ribbon. Breen Die State I, with the "Mumps" lump at the throat clear. EAC grade of EF-40 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, Bob Grellman graded this piece EAC EF-45 in his cataloging for the Gerrie Collection sale in February 2013.
