Description du lot
Ex Simpson, as noted on the insert. A popular variety, which is, in reality a No Drapery, but due to a clash mark, an impression of the E of DIME appears under the elbow, making it look like there is drapery; the drapery feature was not added until 1840. The present coin is a CHOICE example with deep lilac-dove toning on both sides. The surfaces are generally very clean for the grade and have a wonderful original look. PCGS 9, NGC 4. This was the most recent example to sell, realizing $2,185 as part of the Simpson Collection of Mint State Seated Liberty dimes in September 2010. The current PCGS value is listed at $2,600 and prior to this one selling eight years ago, two sold in 2009 for $2,990 each. Cert. Number 06666831 PCGS # 4570
