Lot Description
A bright and brilliant Gem with flashy satin-white surfaces. The strike is truly impressive for this challenging issue with all bell lines fully discernible. Expertly preserved and sure to see spirited bidding at auction. Circulation strike half dollar production soared in the final year of the Franklin series, with the Philadelphia Mint contributing 22,164,000 of the 89,233,292 coins struck. While Mint State examples of the 1963 are plentiful in an absolute sense - original rolls exist in quantity - most numismatists will have to settle for a coin that grades no finer than MS-65 FBL or, if they are not particular about strike, MS-66. Finding a specimen that combines both premium Gem quality with Full Bell Lines definition is a major undertaking. The search will end here for the lucky collector who approaches this rare offering with the most aggressive bidding strategy.
