Lot Description

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 48-f, W-5270. Rarity-3. Outlined Shield, No Sprig Above Plow. VF-20 (PCGS). 165.9 grains. Glossy medium brown with lighter high points and finely granular surfaces. The obverse is aligned to 7 o'clock, the reverse to 11 o'clock, with the die edge visible at the lower right reverse periphery. While the surfaces show the effects of ground exposure, the eye appeal remains nice, and no substantial problems are seen. Though this variety is no great rarity overall, nice examples are genuinely rare. Two choice AUs are known, followed by three EFs and two VF+ coins in the SHI Condition Census.
