This delightful piece still retains good definition overall with pale flint-gray highlights to dominant golden-honey patina. A couple of small marks are mentioned on Liberty's lower jaw. A mere 9,000 coins were struck for this historic Liberty Head half eagle issue, the last from the West Coast facility without the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Thanks to the rigors of commercial use, only a tiny number survive today, the experts at PCGS CoinFacts accounting for fewer than 100 survivors in all grades. The specimen offered here is finer than the typically encountered VF (or even low end EF) in numismatic circles. A rare and fleeting bidding opportunity for the astute half eagle collector.
