- Satiny pinkish-silver surfaces with enhancing blushes of russet patina that are more pronounced on the reverse. Both sides are sharply struck not only in the centers but also in most peripheral areas. Produced to the extent of just 1,080,000 pieces, the 1921-D is scarce to rare in both circulated and Mint State grades. Examples are more elusive than those of the 1921, perhaps not surprisingly given the lower mintage for the Denver Mint issue.
