- 1891-CC Liberty Double Eagle. VF-35 (PCGS). Considerably more definition than one would expect for the modest grade but the surfaces have been abraded from circulation, as commonly seen on Carson City coinage. The marks tend to be light and widespread, settling into the fields and spanning the devices when scrutinized with a strong loupe. Mintage of 5,000 pieces for the year leaves for collectors today with the normal attrition rates that lay waste to the reported mintage numbers. Make sure to examine how nice the definition is on the present coin. PCGS# 9017.
