- Lot Description
- Yearly quarter eagle production at the Dahlonega Mint continued to fall through 1854, with only 1,760 examples of that date produced. The 1854-D is the fourth rarest issue in this Southern gold series, and it is likely that no more than 90 or 100 coins are extant in all grades. Offered is a desirable NGC-certified Choice VF with bright golden-honey surfaces. Somewhat glossy in texture, yet free of individually distracting marks, bold detail to the major design elements is also a strong suit.
