Losbeschreibung: This is by far the scarcer of the two JR numbers for the 1805-dated Draped Bust dime issue, and the present example is conditionally rare at the Choice AU grade level. It is a bright, lustrous coin whose satiny surfaces support just a whisper of champagne-gold iridescence to deny full brilliance. A touch of striking softness is seen in the centers, more so on the reverse, but other areas are sharp, and the overall appearance is impressively bold in the absence of all but light wear. No troublesome marks or other blemishes are seen, and there is plenty of eye appeal. While a few examples from these dies are known with medallic alignment, this one is struck in normal coin alignment. A few faint planchet drift marks in the left and right obverse field areas are as made and do not detract. Exceptionally nice for the variety, and far finer than the typical offering for the 1805 JR-1, which is in well worn condition.
