- FROM THE MHS COLLECTION A Condition Census level B-6, a Rarity-3 die marriage. This is a truly lovely example for the type, the date, or Red Book Large Letter variety, or of the B-6 die marriage! Brilliant, somewhat reflective fields are flashy with a semi-Prooflike luster. The underlying glow enlivens greatly the dappled gold, rose, azure, lilac, and russet patina on the obverse and the reverse shows a somewhat richer orange-rose hue near the periphery with cobalt near the centers. The strike is crisp overall, only a hint of weakness is seen at some of the star centers. A strong glass will locate some minor chatter well hidden under the toning, and does not detract from the outstanding visual allure of this near-GEM Capped Bust quarter. PCGS 14, NGC 61 (all varieties), CAC 6. The most recent PCGS MS64 CAC to sell in auction was a similarly scarce B-5, which sold in our December 2020 Regency Auction for $8,813. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $10,250. VERY RARE any finer, PCGS has graded just seven higher: 1 in MS64+, 5 in MS65, and 1 in MS65+ as finest. What a great coin for any carefully curated collection. Good luck. Cert. Number 25234045 PCGS # 5349
