Lot Description

1853/1--3 Liberty Head Double Eagle. VP-001. Repunched Date. AU-53 (NGC). Initial examination indicates this is an 1853/2, however, the repunching at the left base of the 1 is different, and this coin lacks the prominent die chip on Liberty's headband below the right foot of the r in LIBERTY that is diagnostic of the 1853/2 variety.
