Lot Description
Conditionally VERY RARE, much more so than you might think, with a mintage of over 39 million. Relatively few were saved at the time of issue, and clearly they were spent during the Roaring 20s. The presently offered SUPERB GEM example offers a rich, mint RED color that is really brought out by fiery brilliance. The lustrous red surfaces really are intense and gleam around the sharply struck devices. The eye appeal is superb! PCGS 10, NGC 2. The most recent sold in the 2017 ANA auction, realizing $5,640. A few years prior, the records were approaching five figures; the current PCGS value of $7,000 is a good average. Only four coins are finer; 13 years ago, a 68 RD sold for over $55,000! This coin will fit beautifully into any major Registry Set of Lincoln cents! Good luck! Cert. Number 25681982 PCGS # 2533
