Lot Description

1885 Liberty Head Nickel. MS-64 (NGC). Subtle golden-apricot and pale pink toning envelops the obverse of this pleasing near-Gem. The reverse exhibits a base of the same colors, but with wisps of intense reddish-apricot iridescence drifting over much of the surface. With just 1,473,300 circulation strikes produced for the year, only the 1912-S issue has a lower mintage within the Liberty Head nickel series. Examples are in demand at all Mint State grade levels, this MS-64 sure to have no difficulty finding its way into a specialized collection. PCGS# 3846. NGC ID: 2773.
