Lot Description

1939-S Oregon Trail Memorial. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. Exceptionally vivid toning really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The obverse exhibits blended crescents and blushes of multicolored iridescence that includes shades of steel-mauve, salmon-pink, powder blue and antique gold. For the reverse, we note a smoother blend of copper-rose and salmon-pink. Lustrous, smooth and with intense eye appeal, it is difficult for us to imagine a more desirable example of either the type or issue. The 1939-S is from the final year of the Oregon Trail Memorial half dollar series, and only 3,000 pieces were issued, plus five coins for Assay. PCGS Population: 15; 10 finer (MS-68+ finest).
