- 1889 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-55 (NGC). Warm honey-rose patina evenly blankets both sides of this minimally circulated survivor. Plenty of luster remains, as does bold-to-sharp definition. The final Three-Dollar gold issue, the 1889 is also a low-mintage business strike with just 2,300 pieces produced.
