- 120.9 grains. A lovely example of this product of Machin's Mills, smooth medium brown on the obverse, pleasing brown and golden tan on the reverse. Both sides are sharp and well struck, with good centering on an unflawed planchet. Only minor scattered contact marks are present, along with a tiny curved clip atop the reverse. Howes, Rosen, and Trudgen suggest a Condition Census of "EF-45 to MS-63," which seems a bit low if Condition Census is defined in the tradition Sheldon sense of the top six specimens. This remains a very appealing and high grade specimen of this important variety, which employs a robust reverse die that was married to six different George III obverse in addition to a Vermont obverse to make Ryder-13.
