Lot Description

Breen Die State IV. Otherwise boldly defined surfaces show only minor softness at the letters TY in LIBERTY and ES in STATES, as well as along the right obverse border, where no denticulation is seen. Both sides are warmly and evenly toned in saddle-brown, the texture microgranular, but to no great detriment. Minor marks are consistent with the assigned grade, the most significant on the obverse over and before Liberty's bust, although none of these are worthy of individual attention. The obverse rim break at 12 o'clock is small in this state and confined to the area above the letter B in LIBERTY.
