Lot Description
1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Left. C-4. Rarity-3. Manley Die State 1.0. VG-10 (PCGS). Deep mahogany brown surfaces exhibit some uniform light microgranularity under low magnification, but the surfaces stand up well to the unassisted eye. Some rim bruises are seen, one at 3 o'clock on the obverse, others at 12 and 7 o'clock on the reverse. One of 35,334 examples of the type struck -- the only Flowing Hair half cent with head of Liberty to the viewer's left -- during the first year of coinage operations at the fledgling Philadelphia Mint. Choice overall and a nice selection for a type collection. PCGS# 1000. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) Rarities Sale of January 2001, lot 3. Lot tag included.
