1853 Liberty Head Double Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). Beautiful honey-rose surfaces are sharply defined overall with plenty of frosty luster remaining. Despite our multiple offerings in this sale, the 1853 is a surprisingly scarce early date Philadelphia Mint double eagle in AU preservation compared to the 1851 and 1852.
