A very pleasing example of this early CC half dollar. Every CC-mint coin dated prior to 1875 is scarce to say the very least, and while 153,950 were struck, the vast majority disappeared into the throes of wild west commerce. Nice, smooth surfaces show only some scattered old marks under a dove and lilac toned surface. The details are nicely defined with just moderate, problem free, even wear on the surfaces. PCGS 11, NGC 9. The last one sold in January 2015 for $1,998 and the current Collector's Universe value is listed at $2,250. These rarely appear in auction, and when they do are actively bid on--no doubt this will happen again when this lot closes! Cert. Number 34411511 PCGS # 6331
