Lot Description

S-231. Rich chocolate brown color. Handling and contact marks visible on the obverse consistent with the grade, the reverse is smooth and relatively mark free. Multiple die breaks including a long thin one from RTY of LIBERTY through the field to the rim below. PCGS 8, NGC 5. Listed in the PCGS price guide with a value of $1,625. In February 2017 one brought $1,175 at auction; another sold for $1,939 at auction in May 2015. Appealing example of the stemless wreath variety for the early cent collector. Cert.
