Lot Description
A gorgeous GEM Liberty Head nickel pattern. Barber's portrait of Liberty surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, date below. Reverse has an agricultural wreath surrounding 33 N. 67 C. in two lines, with FIVE above, CENTS below, 7 stars left, 6 stars right. Struck in a nickel alloy with a plain edge, this is a popular Rarity-6- pattern. Incredible flash is seen in the fields, accenting the sharply struck frosted devices. Housed in an old NGC "fatty" holder, this GEM is fresh and totally original. Some delicate streaks of iridescent toning add to the eye appeal. PCGS 7, NGC 2, CAC 1. None have sold since 2013, where a CAM example sold for $4,700. This coin may be the one that sold in the August 1998 Bowers and Merena Rarities Sale, thought it is hard to tell from the black and white photo. A great and popular Liberty nickel pattern that will delight any collector. Cert. Number 213842-014 PCGS # 62129.00
