Lot Description

Brilliant golden-yellow surfaces with a tinge of pale olive, both sides also sport appreciable mint luster in a softly frosted texture. A tiny nick on the base of Liberty's bust, above the digit 8 in the date, is the only mark of note. Offsetting this is an uncommon sharpness of detail in a lightly circulated Dahlonega Mint gold coin. The second most obtainable die pairing of the most frequently encountered D-Mint Liberty Head quarter eagle, this Choice AU 1843-D of the Winter 4-H attribution would make an excellent addition to a mintmarked gold type set.
