Lot Description

Otherwise brilliant surfaces reveal subtle, yet pleasing iridescent overtones of silver-lilac and reddish-gold as the coin rotates under a light. Struck only in Proof format, only 600 silver three-cent pieces were made in 1873 before production for the denomination ended for good, all of which utilize the Close 3 logotype. This issue is highly prized as the last of its type and also for inclusion in 1873 date sets.
