1849-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-2. EF-45 (PCGS). A delightful example that exhibits original honey-olive color. Plenty of lively mint luster remains. The strike is a bit soft around the obverse periphery, yet considerably bolder elsewhere. From a mintage of only 23,900 pieces, and as with virtually every other gold coin struck in New Orleans, wear and tear in commerce was the norm and not the exception. A desirable issue in Choice EF and finer grades, any high quality 1849-O eagle such as this deserves serious bidder consideration. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection - CBL Set. PCGS# 8602.
