Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. P. Soft cobalt blue peripheral toning gives way to sandy-silver tinting toward the central obverse, brilliance elsewhere on the reverse. Sharply defined for the grade with ample remnants of frosty mint luster. This scarce Browning number of the 1837 quarter shares its obverse with the B-2 attribution, its reverse with the 1837 B-1 and B-4 varieties. The NorthEast Collection specimen offered here is tied for CC#8 for the 1837 B-3 dies in the 2010 Rea-Peterson-Karoleff-Kovach census.
