Lot Description
One of the RAREST of Buffalo nickels in any grade, and in GEM AU, as here, it is highly desirable! The present coin has barely a trace of perceptible wear. Indeed, there is just a hint of friction that is toned over by a lovely rose and golden-tan coloration. A bold, brilliant underlying nickel luster brings the colors to the fore and accents the well struck devices. Clearly cared for since it was plucked from circulation by a sharp eyed numismatist, and its subsequent custodians have lovingly cared for it. Sharply struck and totally original, this example has a very strong eye appeal! PCGS 38, NGC 26, CAC 7. The most recent example sold in February 2015, realizing $25,850. There are only two other APRs are listed, representing one coin, selling for $27,614 in March 2012. The current PCGS value is listed at $32,500. This totally original, magnificent coin should sell for more. Cert. Number 35384834 PCGS # 3939
