1899-O Liberty Eagle. Winter Variety One. Repunched Date. MS-63 (NGC). An intricately defined example that is also possessed of billowy mint frost, this coin ranks among the most attractive '99-O Tens that we have offered in recent sales. The color is a light, even, rose-gold shade, and wispy abrasions are insignificant at the assigned grade. One of many underrated branch mint issues from the later Liberty Eagle series, the 1899-O is actually the rarest O-mint issue of the Motto type after the string of low-mintage dates from the 1879-1883 era. Most Uncs grade no finer than BU, with MS-63s rare and coins that grade any higher very rare.
