Lot Description

Richly toned surfaces exhibit wisps of sandy-russet and olive to dominant pewter gray patina. Early date Liberty Seated half dollars like the 1849 seldom display the quality and originality required to secure coveted CAC approval at the Choice AU grade level; most examples that entered commercial channels were either destroyed through melting or roughly handled by contemporary Americans and/or later generations of numismatists. The offered coin is a refreshing departure from this norm and will sell for a nice premium.
