Lot Description

Lightly toned with intense, unbroken luster.  A trace of cabinet friction on the cheek.  Thirteen star points and fully struck devices suggest a very early die state.  Despite the R.1 rarity rating, we see few choice AU examples of this die pair coming to market.  No CAC approved examples are listed in the latest edition of Steve Herrman’s AMBPR.  This dazzling example will excite date and variety collectors alike.   Estimate: $3,000 to $4,000
