Lot Description

BD Die State c/b. A rare second offering in this sale for an example of the normally elusive 1799 BD-8 eagle. And this is a handsome Choice EF example with blended rose and olive highlights to dominant honey-gold color. Lightly worn overall, yet boldly defined apart from a touch of softness in the centers that does not detract in a Capped Bust Right $10 at the certified EF-45 level. A hint of glossiness to the texture joins wispy hairlines to confirm a light, long-ago cleaning, but there are no sizeable marks, and the eye appeal is considerable for the grade.
The Generation 3.0 PCGS uses coin #8562, which is now reserved for the Large Obverse Stars Guide Book variety of the 1799 Capped Bust Right eagle.
