Lot Description
Lustrous and nearly a twin to to the Crosslet 4, Stems 1804 half cent in the previous lot. Well struck, and lustrous, this nearly gem quality C-8, is among the more available 1804 half cent varieties. However, this variety rarely comes in such high grade. Somewhat lighter in color; the smooth chocolate brown patina shows accents of gold, olive and steely-silver/blue patina. PCGS 10, NGC 4, CAC 2. Neither CAC approved example has EVER sold in auction. The most recent MS64 BN to sell in auction realized $5,288 in the October 2014 sale of Gene Gardner’s Collection. That coin did NOT have the strong eye appeal of the presently offered coin. The Missouri Cabinet piece was a non-CAC approved MS65 BN which realized $18,400. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,000, and when bidding closes on this lot, that level may certainly be challenged! Good luck! Certification Number 25604306 PCGS # 1075
