Losbeschreibung
Beautiful, fully original autumn-brown surfaces with a few blushes of olive-gray tinting also evident on the obverse. This is a smooth and frosty Gem, the fields subtly reflective, the design elements fully struck with razor sharp definition. Made from new working dies executed by William Joseph Taylor, who obtained at least four pairs of original dies after the Soho Mint closed in 1848. These so-called "restrikes" were marketed by London coin dealer W.S. Lincoln beginning in 1858, perhaps earlier.
