THE XANNO COLLECTION Fully struck with satiny smooth surfaces. The blazing mint red of this beauty is a pleasure to behold. All design elements are clear and bold including the shield lines which are complete. In 1879 the mintage of cents increased substantially from the previous years. Despite the generous mintage superb gems such as the present example are quite scarce. PCGS 56, NGC 4. Only 8 finer. The value in the PCGS Price Guide is $8,500. A PCGS 66RD sold for $6,300 in May 2022 and a PCGS 66RD CAC sold for $10,800 in August 2021. Only 10 coins at this grade level have sold at auction in the last 7 years.
